Mothering Sunday

Mothering Sunday is an ancient tradition with several different explanations.

Some people point to an old custom of allowing servants the day off to go back home to see their mother. Others say that it was the day when people visited their mother church. Or it could refer to the Bible passage that was always read on that Sunday, referring to "the heavenly Jerusalem, which is the mother of us all."

Sunday, 30th March, was Mothering Sunday, and was celebrated with special services in Walton and the Mission Church. Mothers and children were there, and 130 posies of flowers were prepared by Phyll Greed and her helpers for giving to mothers.

These are a few pictures of members of the Church of all ages after enjoying the service.
