Griffen and Stroud

builders of the Street Mission Church organ

This Bath firm was taken over by Duck, Son and Pinker (now Milsom's)in 1918, and closed during the Second World War.

The on-line history of Duck, Son and Pinker, written in 1948, says:
The Company unfortunately had to dispose of the Pipe Organ Branch of their business (formerly Griffen and Stroud) owing to the sudden death during the war of Mr H J Griffen. His son Mr L Griffen was in the army and there was no-one left to carry on this fine old business, all the pipe organ staff, with the exception of two, being in the Forces.
A record of the company's business, catalogued as
1913-45: order book, summary day book, enquiry book, diary of proprietor (MS 1987)
is in the Birmingham City Archives.
