Passover

Christians Together in Street meet each Maundy Thursday to celebrate the institution of the Lord's Supper.

On Thursday, 13th April 2006, we met in the Parish Church to celebrate the Passover, the festival meal at which Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples saying,
"Take, eat; this is my body."
And after the Passover supper he took a cup and passed it round saying
"Drink this, all of you; this is my blood."

Over a hundred and twenty sat down to supper, and joined in the Passover ritual and Hebrew songs.

The meal was prepared by people in their homes and brought to church in slow cookers, or to be kept warm on hostess trolleys, or given a boost in a microwave.

The Reverend David Hatrey and his family supervised everything - many thanks to them. They feature in these three pictures of preparations for the Passover.
