Walton Church Windows

All the stained glass windows in Walton Church date from the 19th century, and are well worth a close look, both for their design and colours, which are among the more attractive 19th century productions, and for the choice and grouping of the stories they illustrate.

The Old Testament Window
Heroes of Israel are, left to right:
  1. Abraham and Isaac
  2. Jacob's ladder
  3. Elijah taken into heaven
  4. Moses and the serpent
The Water Window
Two Old Testament stories of God rescuing people from water.
  1. Noah's ark
  2. Moses crosses the Red Sea
Above these scenes are heads of Jesus and John the Baptist, and below are Peter and Cornelius.
The Childhood Window
Set up in memory of a boy who died aged 6 years, the window shows four scenes from the childhood of Jesus,left to right:
  1. The Presentation
  2. (above)The Flight into Egypt
  3. (below)Jesus talks to teachers in the temple
  4. Jesus at home with his parents
The Voice of God Window
Two occasions when our Lord heard a voice from heaven saying 'This is my beloved Son',left to right:

The Parables Window
Three of the parables of Jesus,left to right:
