Everyclick  (March 2010)

One of the most frequent things we do on the internet is search using an internet search engine.  When we use one of the corporate web search engines like Google or Yahoo, the company involved is actually making money through our searches (through sponsored links, advertising etc).

Everyclick (address www.everyclick.com) is a search site which allows you to donate some of the money generated through your searches to a charity of your choice.  Everyclick passes on 50% of the profits to your chosen charity.

How does it work?  You could if you wish just to go to the site and use the search facility.  The money generated would then be shared between the charities involved.  Or you can create a signon to the site.  You can then chose one of the thousands of available charities for the money to go to.  Then every time you go to Everyclick, you would be signed on automatically and the money generated from your searches will go to your chosen charity.  (It works using a cookie so if you ever clear your cookies, you may need to type your user and password the next time you visit your site).

Various features are available e.g. Web searching, searching of ebay, or shopping.  All the activities will generate money for your charity, and you can see a report of how much your account has generated.  For each transaction the amount generated is small, but of course the total will build up with time.

Behind the scenes Everyclick is using the Yahoo search engine.  You might find it is not quite as good as Google for more complex searches, but for most searches, Everyclick is a good way to donate to charity without any significant change to your web activity.
